Toddler Wanders From Parents, Drowns in Pool

A 16-month-old Villa Park girl died after she wandered unattended into the family’s backyard and wound up in the swimming pool, authorities said.
Ana Lazar’s heart had stopped by the time paramedics arrived at her Windsor Drive home Friday night. The toddler had wandered away from her parents as they were unloading their car after a shopping trip about 7 p.m., said Stephen Miller of the Orange County Fire Authority.
She was taken to Chapman Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 8:09 p.m., Miller said.
It was unclear Saturday how the girl got into the backyard.
