Commuter Communities

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand the problems of communities south of the Ventura Boulevard corridor (“Residents Fight a Flood of Commuters,” April 28). Paving the five unpaved miles of Mulholland Drive above Encino that prevent commuters from traveling a more direct route to their destinations would eliminate the vast majority of the undesirable neighborhood traffic.
Even though the right of way is now part of the Santa Monica Mountains parkland, we should be able to have a beautiful scenic drive, available to all, to help eliminate the congestion problem. This would create better access for all of us to the Santa Monica Mountains and be a great additional family-outing destination.
