Racist Kills Immigrants, Dies in Police Gunfight

A Belgian pensioner, known locally for his racist views, fatally shot an immigrant couple and wounded two of their children before being slain in a gunfight with police, an official in Brussels said.
Before dawn, 79-year-old Hendrik Vejt entered the apartment below his own where a Moroccan family lived, killing a man and woman, and wounding a boy and a girl, the official said.
Three other children escaped unharmed, he said.
Rita Francois, a neighbor, said Vejt had been angry about the defeat in France of right-wing politician Jean-Marie Le Pen.
