Task Force to Pursue Syringe Attacks
A task force combining the resources of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department and the Mammoth Lakes Police Department is being established to track down the man who has attacked three women with syringes in recent months.
In another development, both agencies said they no longer consider UC San Diego student Peter Butcher a prime suspect in the assaults.
Butcher, the son of Southern California businessman Andrew Butcher, was arrested April 6 and charged in three attacks between January and April.
All the women were physically assaulted and injected with a substance that left them disoriented.
