Rape Suspect Files Suit Over Seized Fliers

The son of an Orange County assistant sheriff has accused investigators of interfering with his ability to defend himself on gang rape charges after they seized fliers that sought information about the alleged victim.
Gregory Haidl, one of three teenagers accused in the July 5 videotaped drugging and rape of a 16-year-old girl at Haidl’s father’s Corona del Mar home, made the allegations in a claim filed against San Bernardino County and obtained by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin of Ontario. Haidl lives with his mother in Alta Loma.
He is seeking up to $100 million in damages, according to the claim, often a precursor to a lawsuit.
The claim alleges that San Bernardino County deputies seized the fliers from a store window and other locations.
Haidl, Kyle Joseph Nachreiner and Keith James Spann, all 17, were charged as adults and have pleaded not guilty to 21 felony counts that include rape, rape by a foreign object and administering a drug to incapacitate the victim.
