Cheap Tickets Accused of Sexual Harassment

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has accused Cendant Corp.’s online discount travel service Cheap Tickets of subjecting several female employees to a sexually hostile work environment.
The federal agency claims in a lawsuit that female employees in Cheap Tickets’ Los Angeles office were subjected to unwelcome touching, propositions for sexual favors and sexually charged speech from male supervisors.
Employees who complained were fired, the agency said. The Los Angeles office was closed last year.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, seeks compensation of up to $300,000 for each female employee.
Cheap Tickets said it has not seen the suit and could not comment on the specific allegations. Shares of Cendant fell 14 cents to $14.29 on the NYSE.
