Sniper Wounds Soldier Despite Cease-Fire

A sniper attack in Georgia’s separatist province of South Ossetia wounded a Georgian soldier just hours after negotiators agreed to a cease-fire, officials said.
Georgian Interior Minister Irakli Okruashvili threatened to take “personal revenge” if another Georgian was killed in the region, where bellicose rhetoric has in recent days escalated into artillery bombardments and sniper fire.
The truce, however fragile, took effect at midnight Friday after days of gun and mortar fire that have killed at least three people in the region where Russia, Georgia and South Ossetia run a joint peacekeeping force.
