Surely the organizers of the Los Angeles Marathon coming up in March can manage to think of a way to hold their event without choking off the entire heart of our city for more than six hours. Regardless of the merits of this event, residents who live within and work outside of its arbitrary boundaries still need to be able to function. For example, I work the night shift (12 hours) in a hospital and need to get home in the morning to sleep so I can be ready for my shift that night. It must be possible for these people to think of better ways to manage this inconvenience and still hold their event.
