Sunday will be “George Harrison Day in L.A.,” a free event in Griffith Park celebrating what would have been the former Beatle’s 61st birthday on Feb. 25.
L.A. City Councilman Tom LaBonge, keyboardist Billy Preston, “Breakfast With the Beatles” radio show host Chris Carter and the Beatles tribute band the Fab Four will appear. Activities will take place in the north end of the Griffith Observatory parking lot.
Also in honor of Harrison’s birthday, Capitol Records on Tuesday will reissue all of Harrison’s out-of-print solo albums originally released on his Dark Horse label, as well as a box set spanning the 1976-92 portion of his career.
