Co-Founder of Iraqi Radical Group Freed

Norwegian police released the co-founder of radical Iraqi group Ansar al Islam, citing new information.
Mullah Krekar, a refugee in Norway since fleeing Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s regime in 1991, was arrested Jan. 2 in Oslo and ordered held for investigation on a variety of charges, including conspiracy in the attempted murders of political rivals in northern Iraq.
Witnesses said they were tortured into making claims against Krekar, who had been arrested and released once before, defense lawyer Arvid Sjoedin said.
