The Anaheim City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved John A. Welter as police chief.
Welter, the San Diego Police Department’s second-in-command, will start March 22. He replaces Roger Baker, who retired last year.
His annual salary will be $169,575.
Welter’s confirmation was all but guaranteed. The council agenda included a recess immediately after the vote for a “reception for the Chief of Police.”
