From Times Wire Reports
Riot police fired tear gas at dozens of young demonstrators who hurled rocks and bottles at the U.S. Embassy in Athens during a rally against the war in Iraq. At least 25 were detained but no injuries were reported, police said.
A downtown branch of Citibank was damaged by a firebomb, and two Greek banks also were damaged. Protesters set fire to garbage bins near the embassy.
The rioters, who also scuffled with rival groups of demonstrators, had broken off from a peaceful protest by about 10,000 people.
