Major Carriers Boost Fares as Fuel Prices Soar

Major U.S. airlines raised domestic round-trip leisure fares by $10, bringing increases over the past five weeks to $60, a travel agent said.
AMR Corp.’s American Airlines, United Airlines Inc. and Delta Air Lines Inc. boosted ticket prices Thursday. The increases were matched Friday by Northwest Airlines Corp., Continental Airlines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc.
The increase was the fourth since Feb. 24.
