Conviction of Anti-Gay Pastor Is Overturned

An appeals court overturned the hate crime conviction of a Swedish pastor whose sermon branded homosexuals as a “cancer.”
The Goeta Appeals Court said that although Aake Green’s views on gay people could be “strongly questioned,” it was not illegal to offer a personal interpretation of the Bible and urge others to follow it.
Green, 63, was the first clergyman convicted under Sweden’s tough hate crime laws.
