Cash Found at Club Was Stolen, Police Say

Cash found dumped at a sports and social club in Northern Ireland on Friday was stolen from a Belfast bank in a $50-million December heist, detectives confirmed. The $94,710 found at the club is the first cash from the Northern Bank to be recovered.
Meanwhile, Irish authorities freed without charge a private banker who was found with more than $4.4 million hidden in his home. It was unclear whether that cash also came from the bank heist. Police said they were preparing a book of evidence against Ted Cunningham, 56, for prosecutors to consider. Authorities in Ireland often take weeks to weigh evidence before deciding to bring charges.
