From Times Wire Reports
Pope John Paul II resumed his private audiences for the first time since spending 10 days in a hospital this month, receiving the Patriarch of Babylonia and an Italian bishop.
However, he was not deemed strong enough to attend a Mass in the drafty St. Peter’s Basilica to mark the end of a weeklong Lenten retreat.
The pontiff, suffering from breathing difficulties brought on by influenza, was rushed to the hospital in early February. He appeared at his window last Sunday to give his weekly blessing and was expected to do the same today.
