2 Deputies Die, 1 Hurt in Helicopter Crash

Two deputies were killed and a third was seriously injured Wednesday night when a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department helicopter crashed near Nimbus Dam.
The helicopter crashed just after 7 p.m., causing a brush fire along the American River east of Sacramento. Two of the deputies died at the scene and a third was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, officials said.
The cause of the crash of the French-made EC-120 American Eurocopter was not immediately known.
