Spy Chief Resigns Over Remark on Lawmakers

Brazil’s spy agency chief has resigned after outraging legislators investigating a bribery scandal by calling them “beasts performing in the circus ring.”
Mauro Marcelo de Lima e Silva handed in his resignation to Vice President Jose Alencar, according to a statement by the intelligence agency.
Marcelo’s agency had been caught up in the legislative bribery scandal because of an accusation that one of his spies had made a recording that has been used as evidence.
