Two men were fatally shot in the Watts area late Saturday night and early Sunday. Authorities did not know if the shootings were related.
Deputies responded to a call about midnight Saturday of shots fired near 110th and South Alameda streets in unincorporated Los Angeles County. When deputies arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound lying in the street. Lt. Fred Corral of the county coroner’s office said the 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene at 11 p.m. Corral said the man, who was not identified, died of a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
About 4 a.m. Sunday, Los Angeles police were called to the Nickerson Gardens housing project and found another man who had been shot, said Sgt. Eugene Bedolla. Investigators did not yet have a suspect. Corral said the 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
