Police fatally shot a man who they said opened fire at them at a park.
Officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area shortly after midnight Saturday.
As they approached a man standing near a jungle gym in John Muir Park, he “turns on the officers and fires a pistol at them, multiple times,” said Officer Rick Applegate. “In fear for their lives, they returned fire.”
Four officers fired on the man, who was not identified. He died shortly afterward. It was unclear how many times he was struck.
