Mayor of Capital Makes Run Official

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced that he would resign July 31 as Mexico City mayor to run for president, saying he planned a whistle-stop campaign across the country.
The mayor, who polls show is the front-runner in the 2006 race, said he would run on a platform calling for “more justice and less inequality.”
