San Miguel mission is worthy of preservation

Re “A righteous mission for your tax dollars,” Current, Sept. 25
As a liberal, I am appalled by the actions of Americans United for Separation of Church and State related to funding for San Miguel Mission.
It is bad enough that we liberals have to deal with a disorganized Democratic Party driven by whichever interest group has the loudest mouth at the moment. We also have to deal with fundamentalists who claim to be liberal such as Americans United. No wonder liberalism is having a hard time making its true voice of compassion and fairness heard. San Miguel is an absolute jewel. It deserves all we can do to preserve and save the structure.
