Apple CEO Decries Calls for Higher ITunes Prices

Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs vowed to repel “greedy” record companies’ demands for higher music download prices, warning that any such move would encourage piracy.
Jobs, speaking before the opening of the Apple Expo in Paris, said some music companies were pushing for an increase in prices charged by Apple’s online iTunes Music Store in the U.S. as their contracts with Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple came up for renewal. The store charges 99 cents a song; prices are typically higher in Europe, Japan and other regions.
