House President Resigns Over Bribery Charges

The head of Brazil’s lower house of Congress resigned over bribery accusations.
“I chose to resign because I have already been condemned,” said Severino Cavalcanti, a 74-year-old political veteran. He repeated his denial of any wrongdoing.
