Sewage Spill Closes Morning Canyon Beach

A 500-gallon sewage spill prompted the closure of Corona del Mar’s Morning Canyon Beach near Cameo Shores on Wednesday, county health officials said.
A city sewer blocked by tree roots burst about 8 a.m., spilling raw sewage into the storm drain and ocean, said Monica Mazur of the environmental health division of the Orange County Health Care Agency.
Elsewhere in the county, a rain advisory remained in effect for all shores until Saturday. Swimmers, surfers and divers are advised to stay out of ocean water polluted by urban runoff from this week’s rainstorm.
