Re “Banking on Wolfowitz,” editorial, Sept. 27
Before The Times’ editorial board lauds the World Bank and its chief, Paul Wolfowitz, let’s make sure all is as it appears. For many years now, Third World countries have had debt forgiven in exchange for their handing over precious resources and/or no-bid contracts to this administration’s well-connected friends. Venezuela is now in the spotlight for refusing to bend to the administration’s hardball policies.
Can we be assured that there are not many others with less fortitude than Venezuela similarly affected by this debt release?
