Cal Lutheran University Names New President

John Sladek, vice chancellor for research at the health sciences center of the University of Colorado at Denver, has been chosen as the new president of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
Sladek, 63, an expert in neural repair who has headed the neuroscience departments at the University of Rochester, N.Y., and the Chicago Medical School, will assume his duties Aug. 15.
He will replace Luther S. Luedtke, 62, who resigned in December after 14 years at the helm of Cal Lutheran.
Luedtke will become president and chief executive of Education Development Center in Newton, Mass.
