A proposed 1,323-mile, $4-billion natural gas pipeline from the Rockies to the Midwest advanced after two energy companies received enough commitments of gas from producers to proceed with construction.
The Rockies Express pipeline, which is to be built by Houston-based Kinder Morgan Energy Partners and San Diego-based Sempra Pipelines & Storage, would carry 1.8 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day from northern Colorado to eastern Ohio. It is expected to be completed in June 2009.
