Boy, 9, Dies After Being Thrown From Car in Granada Hills Crash

A 9-year-old boy died Monday from injuries sustained when he was thrown from a sedan that collided with a sport utility vehicle in Granada Hills, authorities said.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Gothic Avenue and Rinaldi Street about 3:40 p.m.
Six other people, five of whom were passengers in the SUV, were taken to hospitals, authorities said. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
Los Angeles firefighters said the boy, who suffered a severe head injury, was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. He died shortly after 5 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The accident remained under investigation.
