Re “An Outward Show of Political Influence,” March 13
Does Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca actually think our best defense against a terrorist attack is his network of untrained, politically connected wannabes with phony badges, when his trained professionals can’t even maintain law and order in his jails? Maybe he believes terrorists are going to laugh themselves to death!

L.A. County has an excellent reserve program conforming to California state standards. These accredited reserves work for $1 a year, some in black-and-whites and many in other areas where they can serve. They have paid their dues.
It is insulting to every person in law enforcement to see these Mickey Mouse, badge-carrying wannabes being accepted and encouraged by Baca.
