Sabres’ Miller Stops Senators

Ryan Miller made 43 saves and J.P. Dumont and Jochen Hecht scored goals 2:27 apart in the second period to lead the Buffalo Sabres over the host Ottawa Senators, 2-1, Monday night.
Buffalo won twice in Ottawa to grab a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal series despite being outshot, 17-4, in the second period Monday, 15-4 in the third, and 44-17 overall.

Carolina 3, New Jersey 2 -- Niclas Wallin had the puck knocked off his stick during a rush early in overtime but it bounced off his skate through goalie Martin Brodeur’s legs at 3:09 to help the host Hurricanes take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal series.

San Jose 2, Edmonton 1 -- Joe Thornton scored a power-play goal and Vesa Toskala made it stand up with 25 saves at San Jose to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinal series. Tom Preissing also scored for the Sharks and Sergei Samsonov scored for the Oilers.
