Re “Japan Welcomes a Little Prince,” Sept. 6
This week, the entire country of Japan was celebrating because a royal had given birth to a boy. Apparently the previous royal births didn’t count because those babies happened to be that other gender.
Meanwhile, our country was obsessed with Katie Couric’s debut as the first female network news anchor. What century is this anyway?

Re “This Mommy Track May Go Somewhere,” Sept. 5
Women will not make real strides until it is called the “parent track” and men take advantage of it in equal measure. As long as men fear they will be considered “lightweights” for putting their children first and expect mothers to raise the children, women will be at a disadvantage professionally.
