Garden Grove man dies when van, bus collide

A Garden Grove man was killed early Tuesday when the van in which he was riding collided with an Orange County Transportation Authority bus, authorities said.

Daniel Majias Gonzalez, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene following the 1 a.m. accident at the intersection of Katella Avenue and Gilbert Street in an unincorporated area near Anaheim. The van driver, whose name was not released, was taken to UCI Medical Center in critical condition, and three bus passengers were treated at hospitals for minor injuries, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
