Rescuers found 12 survivors in the smoldering wreckage of an Indonesian jetliner that had disappeared during a storm, officials said. The other 90 people on board were killed, they said.
The Boeing 737, operated by local carrier Adam Air, crashed in a mountainous region on Sulawesi island in the country’s northeast.
An airline spokesman said the condition of the 12 survivors was not known.
The plane was on a domestic flight from Java island to Sulawesi when it disappeared about an hour before it was scheduled to land amid very bad weather.
The 17-year-old plane carried six crew members and 96 passengers, including 11 children. The airline said three of those on board were foreign citizens.
