* Philadelphia 7, at Washington 6: Jimmy Rollins hit a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning after Jayson Werth’s pinch-hit home run helped erase a four-run deficit for the Phillies.
* at Atlanta 3, Milwaukee 1: Jeff Bennett allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings in his first major league game since 2004 and the Braves pushed the Brewers further into second place in the National League Central. Milwaukee is 1 1/2 games behind Chicago. The Braves’ Chipper Jones raised his average to .342, passing Colorado’s Matt Holliday (.339) for the NL lead.
* at San Diego 6, Pittsburgh 3: The Padres won their season-high seventh in a row, with Brett Tomko (4-11) winning his second straight start. Trevor Hoffman pitched the ninth for his 40th save in 45 chances.
* Houston 18, at St. Louis 1: Rookie J.R. Towles set an Astros record with eight runs batted in and Houston reached season highs in runs and hits.
* at Florida 8, New York 7 (10 innings): Taylor Tankersley (6-1) pitched a scoreless 10th inning for the Marlins, who ended a four-game losing streak.
* at Colorado 9, Dodgers 4: Matt Holliday homered again and Troy Tulowitzki also connected for the Rockies, who completed a four-game sweep of the Dodgers.
