The hotel: The Portofino recently underwent an $11-million renovation and is one of a handful of Los Angeles-area hotels that offer oceanfront views. More than half of the 161 guest rooms face the waterfront, and the remaining rooms have views of King Harbor. Guests can view the sea from the oceanfront swimming pool and whirlpool, or ride along the beach on one of the hotel’s complimentary bicycles.
