Oregon gets past Washington State, 66-45

Taylor Lilley scored 20 points, including four three-point baskets, to lead Oregon to a 66-45 win over Washington State in the opening game of the Pacific 10 Conference women’s tournament at HP Pavilion in San Jose on Friday.

Ellie Manou added 15 for the seventh-seeded Ducks (14-16), who advanced to play second-seeded California (24-5) today in the second round.

The 10th-seeded Cougars (5-25) were eliminated.

With her team trailing by seven points early in the second half, Lilley, a sophomore guard from Newhall, sparked a 9-2 run with a jump shot and a three-pointer as Oregon tied the score at 32-32 with 16:30 left.

The Ducks then used a 10-4 scoring run -- which included another three-pointer from Lilley -- to take a 42-36 lead, an advantage they would never relinquish.

Oregon used its superior height and strength to outrebound the Cougars, 37-25. The Ducks also outshot the Cougars, 48% to 36% from the field.

Oregon State 46, Arizona 31 -- Ashley Allen and Tiffany Ducker had 12 points each to lead the eighth-seeded Beavers (12-18) past the ninth-seeded Wildcats (10-20).

The Beavers will face top-seeded -- and No. 6 nationally ranked -- Stanford (27-3) today in the second round.

Oregon State took advantage of a major Arizona offensive lapse in the second half in which the Wildcats went a full seven minutes without scoring a point.

During that span, the Beavers used a 13-0 run to turn a 22-22 tie into a 35-22 lead -- an advantage they never lost.
