Yankee wares

At Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers, it’s all about the Maine ingredient. The 36-year-old Auburn, Maine, firm, known for its locally forested cherry and handmade contemporary renditions of Colonial and Shaker furniture, has brought its Yankee ingenuity to its first Los Angeles showroom. Moser’s loft-styled space in the Helms Bakery complex features beds, storage units and other works in cherry, as well as made-to-order pieces in walnut, including the shell-backed Aria dining chair, $2,000, and extendable-to-almost-10-feet dining table, $6,275, shown here. The store also stocks pared-down lighting fixtures such as the Visual Comfort brass chandelier pictured here, $600, and has an exhibition of Maine artists on the walls including “Seaweed,” in the background, a 5-by-5-foot colored pencil drawing on a cherry plywood panel by Colin Sullivan-Stevens and Friederike Hamann of Field, a custom wall design duo in Portland, Maine. It sells for $4,000 at Thos. Moser, 8705 Washington Blvd., Culver City, (310) 204-5726; www.thosmoser.com.
