Police on Wednesday identified the suspect in the shooting deaths of four men at a Santa Maria wrecking yard as Lee Leeds, 31, son of the yard’s owner.
Leeds allegedly fired a semiautomatic handgun more than 10 times as he raced around the salvage yard about 4 p.m. Tuesday. The weapon was recovered at the scene, Santa Maria police said.
The identities of the dead men have not been released, and autopsies were underway, said Sgt. Alex Tipolt of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
But Santa Maria police said one of the victims was related to Leeds. Two others worked at the business at 1500 Black Road, and the fourth was apparently a customer, police said.
