El Dorado County sheriff’s officials have identified a man who was shot and killed after he threatened to run over children.
Matthew Zaiser, 26, of El Dorado Hills told dispatchers in a call Saturday night that he was going to run over the heads of children who were skateboarding. He claimed they were making too much noise, officials said.
Deputies said when they arrived at the home, they found Zaiser at the top of the driveway, holding what looked like a scoped rifle with a towel draped over it so only the butt and the barrel were exposed.
Zaiser was shot by deputies as he raised the weapon and pointed it at them, officials said. A preliminary investigation concluded that the weapon was a pellet gun.
