CHICAGO — Carlos Quentin homered and had a go-ahead double, and Chris Getz delivered a two-run single as the Chicago White Sox defeated New York, 10-5, Friday night, their second straight victory over the Yankees.
Chicago broke a 5-5 tie in the fifth inning on Quentin’s double off David Robertson (1-1). The White Sox added four in the seventh against Alfredo Aceves. Getz hit the two-out single, Jayson Nix stole home and Scott Podsednik added a hard-hop RBI single.
Tony Pena (1-0) pitched two innings of scoreless relief to earn his first victory for the White Sox, who moved to within 1 1/2 games of first-place Detroit in the AL Central.
The Yankees’ loss left the Angels (61-40) with the league’s best record.
