CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / VALINDA

Gang investigators were searching Saturday for two suspects in connection with an attack in Valinda that left an 18-year-old man hospitalized with gunshot wounds to his back and elbow.
The victim was shot on the front porch of his home in the 200 block of Shipman Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Friday by “two male Hispanics who fired from a vehicle,” said Gerard Velona, watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Industry station.
“The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center for injuries, which were not life-threatening,” Velona said. “The victim has been less than cooperative, so we don’t have a lot to go on.”
