A state Senate committee has unanimously approved a gay marriage bill, moving the state one step closer to allowing same-sex couples to wed.
The measure passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee aims to replace the state’s first-in-the-nation civil unions law with one that allows marriage of same-sex partners beginning Sept. 1.
