Manny Ramirez is expected to be in the lineup on this trip, but to what end? The slugger has sat out nearly half the season because of leg problems, but his return provides the Dodgers a chance to prove he’s healthy, improving their chances to trade him. Ramirez reportedly drew some interest at last month’s trade deadline and, despite wearing out his welcome in Los Angeles, he could be a valuable addition for a playoff hopeful lacking a right-handed-hitting threat. Ramirez’s audition will necessarily be a short one, though — the deadline for setting postseason rosters is Aug. 31.
