The season earned Haywood the head coaching job at Pittsburgh, where his stay was short. He was recently fired after being charged with felony domestic violence stemming from a child custody dispute.
About Middle Tennessee State (6-6): Middle Tennessee State had a disappointing season, but it beat Sun Belt co-champion Florida International in its final game to become bowl eligible.
