The American Cinematheque’s Aero Theatre and the Art Directors Guild Film Society present a screening Sunday of the 1938 Technicolor swashbuckler “The Adventures of Robin Hood” starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland and Basil Rathbone. The program will also shine the spotlight on the film’s Oscar-winning production designer, Carl Jules Weyl. The German-born Weyl was a successful architect in Los Angeles before entering films, designing the Brown Derby and Hollywood Palace Theatre. Weyl, who died in 1948 at age 57, also designed 1942’s “Casablanca” and 1946’s “The Big Sleep.” Production designer Thomas A. Walsh will host the screening.
