Gold Standard: Join a live chat with ‘Mom’s’ Anna Faris

Anna Faris, star of “Mom” and a recent parent herself with husband Chris Pratt, will be stopping by the Los Angeles Times for a live Web chat on Tuesday at 11:20 a.m. PDT.

A 2011 New Yorker profile called Faris “Hollywood’s most original comic actress.” The title of the story: “Funny Like a Guy: Anna Faris and Hollywood’s Woman Problem.” So, yes, while Faris took no prisoners when hosting “Saturday Night Live” and provided many of the more memorable moments in the “Scary Movie” series, she had a hard time finding her niche. Until “Mom.”

On the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy, Faris plays a newly sober single mother who decides to reboot her life, moving in with her mother (Allison Janney), who’s also a recovering addict. Farris’ character is frazzled and funny and became kookier as the show’s first season went along.

We’ll talk to her about signing up for a network sitcom, particularly so soon after giving birth to her son, Jack.
