Blink-182 reveals news of a new album on Instagram

Blink-182 opens up its classic tune “Man Overboard” with the frank admission, “So sorry it’s over.” Luckily for fans of the California trio, that line still doesn’t reflect the band’s status.
Guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge announced on Instagram this week that the band will begin rehearsing a follow-up to its last record, 2011’s “Neighborhoods”. DeLonge posted a spliced Instagram of throwback head shots of each member, underlined by a candid caption, “Rehearsals start today... And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink”.
Drummer Travis Barker joined in on Instagram by posting a photo of himself practicing at a drum set. The caption unraveled a line of hashtags, reading “#RehearsalLife #BLINK #EuropeanTour #NobodycaresGoharder”.
Not many additional details have surfaced about the upcoming album. It will be the pop punk band’s seventh studio album.
Blink’s longevity was in doubt not long after the group’s self-titled fifth album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2003. The band released a compilation of hits, “Greatest Hits,” in 2005. In 2013, the group released “Icon”, a collection of its singles.
This is the beginning of Blink’s wave through the publicity circuit this summer. The band is set to headline Britain’s Leeds Festival and Reading Festival in late August.
