Disclosure announces new album ‘Caracal,’ tour dates

The dance-music duo Disclosure had one of the biggest crossover hits of the last few years with the yearning single “Latch.” It helped launch Sam Smith’s career alongside the group’s own — and now it has a follow-up.
The group announced Sunday night that it’s prepping “Caracal,” its second full-length LP, for release Sept. 25. Island Records will release the album, in a departure from the duo’s previous home at Cherrytree, a partnership with Interscope Records.
Early looks at new tracks have shown a mix of styles, ranging from the relatively rough-and-tumble house cut “Bang That” to the single “Holding On,” which features the acclaimed American jazz vocalist Gregory Porter. The group also collaborated with Mary J. Blige on her recent “London Sessions” recordings.
Other guest vocalists (who, after Smith’s success, stand a good chance of a major career lift here) will include the promising R&B newcomer Nao, Lion Babe and Kwabs.
The group has been throwing a series of well-received mini-festivals and parties under its “Wild Life” mantle (and dominating Coachella stages) but will be moving to proper arenas for an upcoming tour. It will include nights at the L.A. Memorial Sports Arena on Sept. 29 (and, for good measure, a Madison Square Garden date on Oct. 24). The group also will be DJing at Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas this month.
