Kurt Sutter, creator of FX’s monster hit “Sons of Anarchy,” has nailed down the cast for his follow-up pilot, “The Bastard Executioner.”
And he’s in it.
The new period drama will star Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, Flora Spencer-Longhurst and Katey Sagal, who also starred in “Sons” and is married to Sutter.
Production of the pilot is scheduled to begin March 19 in Wales.
“The Bastard Executioner” tells the story of Wilkin Brattle, a warrior knight in King Edward I’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all when violence finds him again.
Jones, a newly discovered Australian actor, will play the lead role.
Sutter, who had a recurring role on “Sons of Anarchy,” will play “The Dark Mule,” who speaks rarely. No one’s seen his face.
Paris Barclay, an executive producer and director on “Sons of Anarchy,” will direct the pilot.
